THIS WEEK IN DOCTOR WHO
June 30, 2007 - Vol 10, No 26
The weekly guide to Doctor Who broadcasts worldwide.

Section A - Everything But The PBS Stations
Upcoming premiere broadcasts:
Saturday 30 June:
ABC Australia 7:30PM - Smith and Jones (time slot premiere)
BBC Two 10:30AM - The Infinite Quest (complete version, first
broadcast)
Skai TV 3PM - Love And Monsters
een 4:05PM - The Girl In The Fireplace
BBC One 7:05PM - Last Of The Time Lords, pt 3 (Series 3 Finale!)
BBC Three 7:55PM - Doctor Who Confidential (45 minutes) - The Valiant
Quest
TV3 Ireland 8PM - The Long Game
Sunday 1 July:
BBC Three 7PM - Last Of The Time Lords, pt 3
BBC Three 7:55PM - Doctor Who Confidential (10 minutes) - The Valiant
Quest
Friday 6 July:
SciFi US 8PM + 11:30PM EDT - The Runaway Bride (90 minute slot)
SciFi US 9:30PM + 1AM EDT - Smith And Jones
Sunday 8 July:
CBBC 5PM - The Infinite Quest (complete version, encore)
Series 3 finishes in the UK tonight, no doubt with big surprises,
shock twists, and if tradition holds they will reveal the title of
the 1 hour episode airing at Christmas. If I lived in the UK,
Ireland, Belgium, certain bits of France, and other spots that have
access to BBC One I'd probably be bouncing off the walls right now,
trying to avoid spoilers airing all over the TV, making sure nothing
got in the way of catching the show live. At least the lag time for
episodes in the US (and Canada, and by at least a few days in
Australia) is shorter than last year. Here's to ever shrinking gaps -
I'd love if we had 20+ broadcasters around the world airing episodes
within a week of the UK premiere so everyone could keep up and
experience the first run of Doctor Who together.
Last Of The Time Lords will run for 51 and a half minutes. Allow
extra time. If you miss Doctor Who Confidential on BBC Three due to
making sure you see all of Last Of The Time Lords, the Confidential
episode is due to repeat complete (not the 10 to 15 minute version)
on 6 July at 9:20PM.
Repeats of Series 3 begin on BBC Three on 8 July with The Runaway
Bride. See listings below for details. The full version of Doctor Who
Confidential 3-01 airs on 13 July. Hopefully they plan to air all the
full versions of Confidential for people who want to see them but
missed installments.
By the time this column gets out, UK viewers should have gotten to
see the full version of the animated story The Infinite Quest on BBC
Two, including the ending section which did not run in Totally Doctor
Who. Presumably most of the UK readers of this column saw the day and
time listed in the June 22/23 edition, or heard about it elsewhere.
But if you missed The Infinite Quest, or if you know someone who
missed it - do not fret. CBBC Channel will repeat the full 45 minute
version on Sunday 8 July at 5PM BST. The Infinite Quest stars David
Tennant as the Doctor, Freema Agyeman as Martha, and Anthony
(Stewart) Head as The Sourge Of The Galaxy.
Due to coverage of the Concert For Diana, UK servicemen watching
Doctor Who on the BFBS channels will have a 1 week interruption
between Utopia and The Sound Of Drums. While BFBS started out Series
3 just 1 day behind the UK, it looks like they are on course to have
Last Of The Time Lords on 15 July, 15 days behind the UK.
Canadian Who fans get a one week break from new episodes as the CBC
http://www.cbc.ca/television airs a major sporting match on 2 July.
Gridlock airs on 9 July. Apparently at least one CBC station in
British Columbia has scheduled a repeat of The Runaway Bride for 2
July, as the match should be over by 8PM on the West Coast, but
information is sketchy at best. If you have access to a West Coast
CBC station - check that specific station's schedule as opposed to
the national one.
The USA premiere of Series 3 on SciFi http://www.scifi.com is this Friday July 6 at 8PM EDT (PDT on West Coast Feed).
Friday July 6:
8AM Eastern - 8 hour marathon of Series 2 in the Daytime Rotation -
Rise Of The Cybermen through Doomsday, skipping The Idiot's Lantern.
8PM and 11:30PM Eastern - The Runaway Bride - Christmas episode with
Catherine Tate
9:30PM and 12:30AM Eastern - Smith And Jones - introduction of Martha
Jones (Freema Agyeman)
Beginning July 13, SciFi has Doctor Who airing at 9PM and 11PM
Eastern. On August 10, the first showing moves to 8PM Eastern to
accomodate the new Flash Gordon series. August 17 sees the second
airing move to 1AM Eastern. Last Fall SciFi's schedule changed
repeated during Doctor Who series 2 due to ratings problems in the
late evening, so do not be surprised if the 2nd airing time moves
suddenly during the run beyond the already scheduled change.
